New toy...

I remembered that I never posted any pictures of Roberts new toy...we decided, well he decided, that he was getting too old for the green Ninja. It was getting hard on his back and knees since he rides almost everyday to work. So, he got a cruiser. After doing the math and calculated, we realized that if he started driving the truck, he would spend twice as much in gas. So, here is his new motorbike, as he calls it.

He looks so mean in this picture. It was taken with my phone, because honestly I didn't think they would be able to swing the great deal they did...but that is how it works. He is much more comfortable driving to and from work. And, I have to admit, it is a very nice ride. We were able to go out for a nice bike ride with John and it was very comfortable. I will miss the Ninja, but that is how it is.

This is Robert and I on our bike ride. The other picture is John and his girlfriend.

New Postings!!

OK...so I have finally published post that I needed to add pictures to. I think I did a total of 5 new postings. So be sure to scroll down and enjoy the pictures at least if you don't want to read the details. One of them is on the Older post cause I guess I can only have 5 post per page? That tells me I need to update more often! I Miss you all and hope all is well with your families. Keep in touch with me!

A day of fishing!!

One of Robert's buddies from work rented a boat from post and took the boys fishing on Monday. They had a fun time out on the lake even though they didn't catch anything. Robert had to take the boat back on Tuesday afternoon so we decided to enjoy the little extra time with the boat and go out on the lake as a family. It was a very beautiful morning...(at 6 am ) As you can see from the pictures, Elisa was so excited to be out on the lake fishing! After a minor setback with the boat...
...something about making sure you put the plugs in the holes so the water doesn't come inside the boat. . (gave us time to catch some shad). We were off on the lake. There were quite a few people out on the lake, but it is strictly a fishing lake so it was calm and quiet. We found a very nice spot where the fish were jumping all around us in the water. Unfortunately, none of them jumped on our hook and stayed. We did have a few that were smart enough to steal our bait, but we didn't catch anything except a stick and a rock. Robby caught the stick and I, somehow, caught a rock! Elisa slept under her sweater most of the time, but we still had fun. The best part I think was when we each got to drive the boat, even me! This summer really has been nice, as much as I hate to admit it. (after all I am still in Texas.)

Dallas Cowboy Training Camp

Michael's football team had the opportunity to see the Dallas Cowboys training camp. They have been training here in San Antonio at the Alamo Stadium. It was a pretty neat experience to see how they conduct a practice. We are NOT Cowboy fans, so it wasn't that exciting to us, but it is a neat experience to see how the big guys practice and to see the drills they run. Robert enjoyed explaining to Michael the drills and pointing out what they were doing. Rowdy, the team mascot was signing autographs and Michael was so close to getting one. But, you know they are on a tight schedule so he missed out. He was pretty bummed. It made it all better when we were leaving and he was able to take a Marine Challenge. He had to hang on this bar in pull up position. He hung there for 35 seconds. I guess 30 seconds is a minimal standard for something in the Marines(?) The kid before Michael was able to hang there for 75 seconds. Michael enjoyed showing off. And he was able to pick a prize. He chose a dog tag.

I finally got it!

Our dinner table has been a great table. We got it the year that Robby was born. I loved that table. The bench, the chairs...but, it was getting really run down. One of the chairs broke and we were able to buy one at a yard sale to replace it. Every time you sat down, there was a fear that the legs might give out. I was really getting scared to have people over for dinner. I would tell them. Sit down softly on the chairs...they are kind of wobbly. Well, I have been wanted a counter height table for some time. We have been patiently waiting for sales and for the right time. Well, we just happen to go look at Rooms-to-Go this weekend and found it. It is perfect. Robert said we could get it! I can not tell you how excited I am to finally have this table. It seems so silly to get so excited about a table, but I am! Dad bought a glass cover to protect the wood so I don't have to be so uptight about the kids eating on it. Let me tell you, before the glass came, I was very careful and didn't even want to eat on it! We all really like the table. It is nice to be able to sit down in the chair and not feel as if the legs are going to give out on you. Thanks baby!! I love my new table!!

Scouts!

The boys really enjoy the Scouting program. The week after we got home from Oklahoma they were able to go to scout camp. They had such a great time. This was Micheal's first time at camp and he love it. They were able to do so many activities. The last day of camp was my day to be a walking den leader. I was able to watch them the final day. They shot their BB guns, Archery and did other activities. It really is an awesome program. About a week later I received a call to be the Wolf Den leader. I have to say that I am still a little worried about this calling, but am excited to be part of such a wonderful program.

At the July Pack meeting Robby received several Weblo pins earned at camp to include the archery pin. Michael earned several awards from camp as well. He also would have earned an archery pin, except it is only for Weblos. He is really close to earning his Wolf.

Our 4th of July catch...

I have been meaning to share this with everyone, and keep forgetting to post it. While we were on our little vacation in Oklahoma, we acquired 3 turtles. Needless to say this made Michael extremely happy. His favorite animal is a turtle and has been asking for one for quite some time. They require a lot of work and tortoises are quite expensive. So, when the KOA owners said if we caught the water turtles that we could keep them, it became his mission. Between Michael, myself and a little boy that was also staying at the KOA we were able to catch 3 of them. We transported them in a cooler and the next day we went to pet smart to buy the supplies we needed. Michael worked hard to dig the hole to put the pool in the ground. I said they were not going to come into the home for two reason. I know how much they can smell, and second they were accustomed to being outside. I didn't think it would be right to take them away from their natural environment. Pet smart had a plastic "pool" for pets. We made this their pond. We bought plant life for them and put a rock so they could sit on it and "sun". After a few days the turtles really seemed to like their home. It was fun to watch them eat and sun on the rock.

*SAD update! This week our turtles disappeared. (they were starting to enjoy being in our backyard) We are unsure of the culprit, but think it must have been a possum or raccoon. We are certain that they did not escape on their own. Michael was upset. In the meanwhile we have an empty pool in our backyard. We hopefully will get some new ones. If and when we do we will have to invest into a little fence around our pool.
